The role mystery in landscape photography

There is a wonderful article on photography blog by David Ward where he talks about "mystery" in landscape photography. He illustrates with some superb examples and identifies four different forms of mystery, namely scale, spatial ambiguity, lighting, and incongruity. Well worth a read.
